Drake felt the euphoric empowerment of consuming the skill stones pass over him, however this time he was prepared for them and the subsequent skills. Almost immediately gaining access to his subtrees, the first skill turned out to be an Aura skill.

He raised his brow in suspicious thought.

A little weird that the first skill from this set of skill stones is an aura skill…

Drake had somewhat suspected it before, thinking back to the fight he had with the group when they tried to kill him. The skill he gained in that instance was one he needed immediately to turn the tide and fend them off. Was he just lucky? Or was the chamber giving him just what he needed?

He quietly flexed his aura, smiling as he felt the familiar eb and flow of the skill pulse around him. Drake didn't go as far as to check the descriptions just yet as he still had many skills stones to go through.

And.

He looked over his shoulder. No one had seemed to be paying attention to him consuming the stones as they already knew he had open skill slots that needed to be filled. However there was no telling who was watching him from a distance or who might suddenly become suspicious should he absorb one too many skill stones at once.

I should limit how many I use for now. A few more should be fine, I'll just have to do the rest when I'm alone.

Drake looked over his Secondary Class once more before trying to experiment with the skill stone acquisition. He had a sneaking suspicion that something was being rigged.

He looked closer at the description of the elements.

While casting Earth-type Magic, you gain increased Physical Damage Reduction.

+10% Physical Damage Reduction (Increases with Proficiency)

Drake was surprised to not see any spell chants listed. His Elementalist class had at least a few listed for use when he obtained it originally.

Was the class that powerful that it had encompassed each element as a whole? Or was it the opposite? Would he have to learn each spell individually using up a majority of his skill slots for both spells, spell manipulation, and mana management?

First he would have to test his theory on the skills he gained being particular to what he needed, or had he just gotten lucky many, many times in a row?

Drake picked up a stone.

Skill Stone: Threshold [Rare]

He began consuming the stone, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible as Tan began finishing up tearing apart slimes while the others watched.

You have learned skill: Overcome Limits [F-Rank] 0/5 [Weakend]

Your skill: Overcome Limits. Has been forcibly increased to [E-Rank] 0/5 [Weakend]

Stats will begin reverting 10 seconds after combat ceases.

No Cooldown.

"Well that seems rather good… I already have a skill that helps with stat increase but this just makes it even crazier…" Drake whispered to himself, "Then, let's see about this one."

Skill Stone: Minor Element Control [Uncommon]

You have learned skill: Elemental Archon's Mixing Bowl [F-Rank] 0/5 [Weakened]

Your skill: Elemental Archon's Mixing Bowl. Has been forcibly increased to [E-Rank] 0/5 [Weakend]

Drake's head pounded for a few moments. The stone's power hit him like a ton of bricks. But once he recovered.

"Okay… just by the skill name alone I think it's safe to say… I'M JUST THE MAN!" he roared, pumping a fist.

The group looked over, forcing Drake to recoil and whistle, pretending to pick up most skill stones up from the ground.

Just as Drake reached for one more stone, Tan had finished his rampage. The rest of the group stood and began forming up.

Tan began addressing them as if he had not just gone on a Slime genocide moments ago.

"We will be pushing in further past the invasion crystal zone. Pick up any skill stones and cores along the way," he pointed to Drake, "But do not take any of the rare stones from here on. That point counting crystal is going to begin registering what items you pick up once we leave the initial invasion zone."

Stingy… Drake grumbled to himself.

But he nodded just like the rest of them as Tan continued.

"Spread out like usual. Norris, take point and scout it out. So far there are only monsters in F-Rank, so no real challenge to be had."

Tan tapped the top of another crystal. One Drake had seen before. It was a communication crystal.

After a brief moment of speaking with whoever was on the other side, Tan placed it into his pocket, turning to the group.

"Change of plans. There seems to be a populous on the planet. E-Rank. It looks like we may have some challenges yet."

The sound of weapons being drawn sounded from all around Drake as the group began to fan out. He saw some of the group's weapons that he already knew. Vale's fan, Silvester's ball and chain, Gnobin's elongated claws.

But he was surprised to see the other's choice of weapons. Ganeer held a massive glaive, Dolf held a seemingly normal bo-staff. And Kuuwei held nothing as four blue swords hovered on either side of him.

Drake didn't fail to notice that Tan held neither a weapon or anything magical around him.

Spreading out with the rest of the group he took up position on the outermost of the formation.

Ganeer behind the formation and the closest to Vale, which Drake assumed was for her own protection.

Heading the vanguard was Tan, Dolf, and Kuuwei. On their left, Silvester, Drake on Tan's right with Norris scouting while veiled in his invisibility.

They spread out far enough to seemingly see each other in their auras or detection type skills, as they quickly moved out of line of sight.

Drake felt more at ease with not being directly seen. It gave him the opportunity to look at his skills while also the possibility of testing them out.

His new aura skill was tempered more than when he first obtained his original, but controlling it as minutely was proving to be difficult.

Looking around as the whole group moved forward he began going through his skills.

0/5 Brands

Drake paused for a moment, reading his last Subtree.

Brands? Like tattoos? He thought with some interest.

Drake inspected the Subtree further, looking at the options as he resumed his pace with the others.

Choice of Brands

Fire, Wind, Water, Earth, Lightning, Ice, Magma

He smiled.

Welcome back home my lovelies…

Drake was happy to see the familiar elements. Slightly disappointed to not see anything new. He half expected to see something like Void, or Gravity, or even Ki. However he couldn't complain. And seeing the addition of Lighting, Ice, and Magma. He checked his Arbiter of Elements class, seeing that the three had been added to it as well.

Guide of Elements - Lightning [Weakend]

Lightning is order in chaos, the pure expression of energy.

While casting Lightning-type Magic, you gain increased Magic Penetration.

Magma is the cycle of life. Long forgotten and decrepit past is burn molded and renewed in red hot creation.

While casting Magma-type Magic, you gain increased Magic Resistance.

+10% Magical Damage Reduction (Increases with Proficiency)

With some newfound excitement he began inspecting the brands.

Fire

Base Element Brand.

Increases damage done by magic by 5% per Brand stroke. Brands past a certain threshold will increase the effects significantly.

He sighed, "Just like the system to not give me the full story on something that is important…" he whispered.

His younger self looked over, seeing nothing and thinning his eyes.

"I do not understand what you are so surprised about. The system has never been a friend to anyone. Inciting war, murder, destruction. It cares not for the people that live in the universe. Only for the spread of its reach and the accumulation of mana," his younger self scoffed.

"Are you a racist or something?" Drake asked absentmindedly.

"A what?"

Drake recalled being on the Asuran homeworld. And now his younger self also showing displeasure for the system while remembering Natto mentioned the distaste Asuran's had for the system. He was almost positive now.

"Well I just mean, no Asuran I've seen has ever had a System Assistant. Not even Han when I was shown my memories as a child. So, are you guys racist or… I guess it's system-ist? Is there a word for it? Maybe Anti-establishment? Where's a Californian when I need one!? Get me someone from New York! Wait, I'm from New York. Wait I just called my younger self a racist. Doesn't that mean I'm a- No! What have I done?! Is the system going to cancel me?! Is that something the system can do..?"

"You are insane…" his younger self grimaced.

Mir'phyra scoffed, laughing softly to herself. "You do not understand why the Asuran's loathe the System? Oh you are quite ill informed indeed."

Drake flipped through the rest of the brands descriptions, giving Mir'phyra only a glance, not expecting her to answer him.

"And I suppose you are going to tell me why they hate the System then?"

"No," She smiled.

"Of-course."

"However, if you simply look at who receives System Assistances, you will quickly know why they hate it."

Drake swiped his screen away for a moment, "Who receives them..? Aren't you the one that placed them in the tutorials? I thought all items were funded by the Tutorial Sponsor?"

Mir'phyra only snickered.

"Well that's helpful…" Drake sighed, accepting a Fire Brand as his first brand for his skill.

He took in a quick breath of pain. The sound of something sizzling like food to a hot pan began as Drake looked at his right shoulder.

The pain subsided after a moment and Drake saw a mark on his skin, raised flesh as if he had actually been branded somehow.

"I swear this System just likes hurting me…"

Not looking forward to selecting the rest, he did so nonetheless for his original four elements.

Water

Base Element Brand.

Increases mana regeneration by 5% per Brand stroke. Brands past a certain threshold will increase the effects significantly.

Wind

Base Element Brand.

Reduces spell cost by 1% per Brand stroke. Brands past a certain threshold will increase the effects significantly.

Earth

Base Element Brand.

Increases Physical Damage Reduction by 5% per Brand stroke. Brands past a certain threshold will increase the effects significantly.

However he was forced to stop at using four total brand slots.

Lightning

Deviant Element Brand.

Increases Magical Penetration by 10% per Brand stroke. Brands past a certain threshold will increase the effects significantly.

Requires 5 Brands of Fire and Wind.

Once again going from excitement to slight disappointment Drake moved to read over the last two of his new skills. However, he was stopped in his tracks.

Something other than his squadmates had entered his aura's sphere of perception.

And Drake paused as he looked at it in utterly deep confusion, his mouth hung wide.

"Is that… Is that a human sized penis..?"
