Chapter 96 - Chapter 95

The next day, Xiao Yi checked with the old lady at the bookstore to make sure she was doing fine and set out to meet Yang Yutao in the afternoon.

The rain had dried up overnight, and the sun had quickly dried up the wet patches that remained on the ground, however, it was still a little chilly out, so Xiao Yi ended up wearing a light black jacket over a long-sleeved shirt.

It wasn't fancy, but when he walked into the small, local restaurant, he still felt the lingering glances of the customers.

He chose a corner booth where he could still see the door and waited patiently, looking toward the door whenever he heard the small chime ring out.

A few minutes after he sat down, Yang Yutao walked through the door wearing a black suit, and Xiao Yi couldn't help but remember Lee's sentence about their team. "They moved out the week that Xue from FFS died. I heard Midnight was good friends with him…"

It was followed by. "We told Midnight that you were gone after he showed up with your apartment keys. So, he's who you were seeing? Not a bad choice. Your brother had a word with him."

He didn't need to stand up or signal to the other man to join him. Yang Yutao's eyes locked onto him, and he strode over with a small, carefree smile. "You didn't skip town this time?"

Xiao Yi tilted his head and retorted. "I thought about it, but you said you'd only be around for a few days. Besides, your face is not one to miss."

He immediately wanted to take it back. Where did this confidence come from?

Yang Yutao sat directly across from Xiao Yi. He touched his chin and answered seriously. "I do have to thank my parents for this face of mine."

There was a brief moment between the two men before they both began to laugh.

Xiao Yi said. "You're right, you need to thank your parents!"

"Hey, this is the reason you didn't run!"

"I didn't mean it."

"I can let you take a picture of it, I'll even print it out for you."

"You don't need to…"

Yang Yutao leaned forward and smiled, and Xiao Yi stopped mid-sentence and frankly stated. "If you print one out, I won't throw it away."

Yang Yutao nodded understandingly. "I'll see what I can do."

The server appeared afterward, and the two of them ate without saying much, so after Xiao Yi paid, he invited the other man back to his apartment so they could talk without being interrupted by noise.

When Yang Yutao saw his apartment, he said. "You couldn't afford something bigger?"

Of course, both men knew that he could. Xiao Yi shrugged and stated. "I just bought the first place I saw. There weren't many options when I got here."

Yang Yutao took off his suit jacket and placed it on the small hook next to the door, and casually asked. "Was it hard?"

He didn't expand on his question, so Xiao Yi took a moment to respond. He walked over to the coffee table and sat on the floor instead of on the couch.

Yang Yutao sat across from him, but he didn't say anything else.

Xiao Yi hummed. "I guess so. I didn't know anyone here, and it was hard to create relationships with people."

"I didn't think I'd find you here."

"I didn't think I'd run into you at all. I almost had a heart attack when I heard your voice."

"First it's my face, now it's my voice?"

Xiao Yi shifted his eyes away from the man and muttered. "En."

What else could he say? He did have a good face, he also had a good voice; the gods favored this man.

Though Yang Yutao thought the same as him, as he studied Xiao Yi's face in person for the first time in months.

Really, he had been cheated. He had just met this small assassin in person, and he ran away the next day. If it wasn't for Chen Qiang's explanation, he would have never known why Xiao Yi disappeared.

Although they had only had drinks together once and slept in the same bed, he definitely didn't consider Xiao Yi a stranger after the nights they spent talking well into the morning. He even took care of his garden.

He tilted his head and asked. "When do you plan to go back?"
