Surrounding the Giant Pit Fortress was Gobi Beach, and it seemed that the Giant Pit was at the center of the desert. Besides the desert Charles had explored at the 11 o'clock direction, the Earth's surface featured other terrains.
If the Giant Pit were compared to a clock, then at the 2 o'clock direction there was a semi-lucid black fog that stretched from 2 o'clock to 4 o'clock.
The black fog was not poisonous, humans could breathe inside it, but the terrain within was a muddy, grey swamp inhabited by various creatures.
The meter-long worm-like creature that had been found before came from this swamp.
