At World Crown, Nini opened her eyes from her own bed. After quickly washing up, she followed her mother to work in the fields.
Her stature had grown a bit, but only a bit. Coping with the work in the fields was still strenuous for her, especially now during harvest season.
By now, the ground beside them was piled with half-green bananas, all cut down by them and waiting for the Governor's vehicle to come and collect.
Although the bananas had stopped growing since the death ray had vanished, at least their task was complete. Donna hadn't worked the whole year for nothing.
Several cars drove up the main road. Under the watchful eyes of the soldiers, laborers quickly loaded Donna and Nini's yearlong effort onto the trucks.
