Chapter 10 - Conscious or Not

In my whole life, I've never felt so much pain, not even when I witnessed my own head get cut off. From what I'm guessing, I'm feeling this pain because of love. It's the pain of a loved friend dying.

William is my first friend in this world, and he might even be my last. I am not confident that I will be able to make another friend at all. What I've concluded from the aching that I feel in my heart is that I had loved William as a friend, but never have I consciously admitted it because I didn't know what to identify that feeling as.

"Did your sister's death hurt so much that you killed yourself?" I stared at the pair of bloody peach eye balls in my hands.

"What a waste of energy," I heard the voice of someone behind me speak. "I used so much mana to restore his vision, but he ended up taking his own vision and dying instead. The least he could've done was given his eyes to me."

"Lucas, shut the fuck up," I turned around and glared at the brown haired male. "William just died and his eyes are the first thing you think about?"

"Oh yes, I do think about his eyes all the time," Lucas smiled, extending his hand towards me, "mind handing them over? I've been wanting them for a long time."

"They're just eyes, go take someone else's."

"How cruel of you. You're ok with me taking a random person's eyes?"

"As long as they're not Williams," I replied.

"Oh but, I don't want anyone else's eyes. Everyone's eyes here are absolutely useless aside from William's. I bet you don't even know how precious they are so how about you give them to me since I'll be able to make use of them more? Come on," Lucas moved his hand, motioning for me to hand the peach eyes overs, "give it."

"Fuck you," spat out.

"Fine, I guess you wanna do it the hard way," Lucas lifted his arm in the air, a snake head formed from pale blue flames appeared above him.

My eyes widen. He was the one who set the village on fire. If he never did that then William would still be alive right now! It's his fault! Everything is his fucking fault!

A burst of white flames appeared around me as my eyes glowed silver. Everything that I saw when looking at Lucas was completely red, even more red than my now completely red hair.

"That's some powerful flames you got, but aren't you going a little too far?" said Lucas. Too far? Isn't that what I should be saying to you? Right now, I don't think there's anything wrong. "Hey, you're bleeding quite a lot you know." …Huh?

Only now have I noticed the wet feeling of blood soaked bandages around my neck and warm blood trickling down my nose. I was completely unaware of this until Lucas had said that. It was as if I was in a trance.

"Hey," Lucas brought my attention back to him, "it's your own body, so why do you look so confused? Don't tell me," his smile widened and his eyes seemed crazed, "you've been constantly living in between the states of consciousness and unconsciousness!"

"What are you talking about?" I asked, confused. What exactly is he saying? I don't understand a single thing at all.

"Oi, are you sure you're not missing some parts of your memories?"

"I'm pretty sure I remember them all," I replied, slightly nervous. He doesn't know that time was reversed does he? Are the missing parts of my memories that he's talking about the memories of the future?

"Do you remember talking to William about where I appeared today?" Lucas questioned.

"I do. You appeared in Floran," I answered.

"How about me bringing you two some apples? How about when we talked a little about the life you lived outside the village while we were stuck here? We even had lunch with the girl who has a scar on her arm too. The guy with the scar on his neck came over to talk to you about the bandages around your neck, and if he should cover his scar with bandages too. Do you remember any of that?" asked Lucas....What? Since when did any of that ever happen? "Seeing my confused expression, Lucas looked beyond happy.

"Did I really do all of that today?"

"You did Felix, you did. The people here would be so sad that you've forgotten them, William too. It's quite sad how you can't remember all the things you did together before he died. William died with memories of the two of you that you don't even remember. I pity him," Lucas pretended to act sympathetic. "But really how dumb can you be Felix? Didn't you at least notice that the day seemed to pass quickly? Without your memories, it should seem really short to you."

Oh, is that why I felt that time passed really fast today? It wasn't because there's something wrong with how time flowed, it was because I couldn't remember how I passed the time with William.

'Is the world outside this village so bad towards villains Felix?' I heard William's voice in my head.

'You can have my share of food if you want, I don't mind', it was the girl with the scar on her arm.

'If I bandage the scar on my neck then maybe I'd feel more confident about myself', in came the voice of the guy with a scar on his neck.

'I got these for you two!' was the cheerful voice of Lucas.

A series of memories resurfaced from my head as a headache started to form. It was too much, way too much for me to process after William's death and my vision turned to completely darkness. I fainted.

"Oh, isn't he a little too weak to be Cyrus's heir?" Lucas thought out loud, "oh well, goodbye," the snake head made of flames charged towards Felix but what Lucas didn't expect was for Felix to dodge. "Huh? Did you pretend to faint just now?" Lucas asked but he got no response. "Oi, don't tell me you're doing this while you're unconscious," Lucas started sweating nervously.

In Felix's hand, a sword made out of white flames appeared. In a flash, Felix appeared in front of Lucas, nearly slicing the brown haired male cleanly in half but Lucas was able to block the sword made from flames last second with his own flames.

"Hah, this is really the definition of 'fight fire with fire'," said Lucas, knocking Felix back and attempting to hit Felix with multiple flame snakes however, Felix's sword skills were no joke.

"Hey Felix, instead of being mad at me for taking your body, thank me for this ok?" a vision of him in the future talking to himself in the mirror appeared, except it wasn't him talking to himself, it was Eason in his body.

The memories that Eason had created in his body, was now being inherited by him. After all, they were made in his brain and his body, not Eason's. The memories that appeared this time was the 'Swordsmen Competition' that they participated in when they were 20. It was in the perspective of Eason who was in his body against himself who was in Eason's body. The outcome?

On top of the podium stood Eason who was in Felix's body. That's right, the one Lucas was currently going against is someone who inherited the memories and experience of the first prize winner of a competition of sword skills. It wasn't Felix the villain who was currently fighting, it was Eason the hero who's fighting for Felix, his villain.

"Shit, I didn't know an unconscious person could fight better than when they're conscious," Lucas held his arm that was burnt. "I wonder what you're dreaming about right now while I'm fighting the unconscious you Felix."

"Obviously I'm watching you get your ass beat," I said. Everything that happened ever since I passed out, I've seen it all. I'm still slightly in shock that I am able to see the memories of what Eason did in my body which could mean I could become stronger with these memories, but it also makes me sour since Eason will get the memories I created in his body too. I guess Eason's hero halo is quite powerful because I was banned from using swords at 19, but Eason who was in my body was able to participate in the competition at 20.

"In the end isn't that Eason kid the one who's fighting and not you?" a familiar voice said. It was the voice that I heard from before.

"So you're the one who said 'true evil' in my head earlier," I turn around to see a dark skinned male with white hair, silver eyes and black horns on his head.

"I was only telling you what the kid in the tree was mouthing you. Didn't you want to know? Shouldn't you thank me instead? I don't usually help people out like this you know," the male seemed annoyed.

"I don't care. You're the reason why I'm forgetting things aren't you? As soon as I got my memories back, I ended up here where you are," I said.

"You're smarter than you act."

"Who are you? Tell me who you are," I demanded.

"You're acting quite fucking rude to a God," the male sneered. He seemed to have a bad temper and God?

"Don't tell me you're-"

"Yeah that's right, I'm Cyrus so show your fucking respect."
