Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Catching the Long-Distance Yearning

Why did Assistant Zhang drive the car to her neighborhood?

She didn't even have time to ask Zhang Yang before he turned around. "Boss, I'll come pick you up tomorrow. You and Miss Ying should get some rest early."

Assistant Zhang really knows how to play along! He's got it all figured out!

In broad daylight, telling her and Wen Fucheng to rest early, even though she wanted to, clearly it wasn't the time yet!

Until Zhang Yang left.

Ying Jing finally mustered up the courage to speak.

"Isn't this progressing a bit too fast?"

Is he really about to come through the door?

Wen Fucheng didn't know what she was talking about; he just walked ahead toward the elevator.

No way! So proactive, already moving forward.

If she continues to act reserved, would that be appropriate?

Ying Jing followed him up, watching him press the button for the 8th floor. She kindly pointed out his mistake.

"My place is on the 7th floor, you pressed the wrong button."

The man's hand paused slightly, he glanced at her from the corner of his eye.

His thin lips parted slightly, his expression unchanged.

"What a coincidence, I live on the 8th floor."

"You bought an apartment in Hu City?" Talk about coincidence, buying right above her.

"Hmm? Is that not allowed?"

Allowed, absolutely too allowed, hahaha! Even God is helping her, the progress bar of chasing a husband instantly made a huge jump forward.

As the saying goes, being close to the water gets you the moon first, and the moon hanging in the sky, Wen Fucheng, she's this close to reaching out and grabbing it.

She'll go back to the villa tomorrow, pack her luggage, and swiftly roll back to live here.

Rounding it off, living in the same building means she's practically cohabitating with Wen Fucheng, hahaha!

Ying Jing was so happy that she felt like she was walking on air, humming a little tune as she went.

Following Wen Fucheng to his new home.

Ying Jing looked at the empty house in front of her and fell into deep thought.

This...

If she remembered correctly, this neighborhood is famous for being a wealthy area in Hu City, with grandiose renovations.

Each building has only 8 floors, one apartment per floor.

Each floor is a large flat apartment.

"Did your place get robbed?" This was practically a skeleton room!

A few pieces of simple furniture, even the curtains on the windows were gone.

Standing in the living room, Wen Fucheng looked frustrated.

"When I bought it, the seller said they'd take some of the furniture."

"They call that taking some, it's practically emptied out! Even if you buy them now, you need time to air out the new furniture, right?"

Ying Jing followed Wen Fucheng around as he inspected the place.

The damned seller, even the bed in the bedroom was gone.

"The study is fine, I can manage there, work in the study, put a small bed in the study to sleep on. It'll be okay once the furniture is set up, don't worry too much."

Nonsense, how could this be okay?

How could she not worry, even the kitchen's range hood and stove were pried off, were they supposed to drink the wind from the balcony come meal time!

"It's okay, I can handle it."

"I can't let you live in a place like this. Come to my place..." She said, about to grab his luggage and walk out.

Wen Fucheng pressed down on her hand, his eyes held an indescribable emotion.

"Lone man and woman, it's not proper."

"Are you worried I won't be able to resist making a move on you? There's some truth to that. But rest assured, as long as you don't use your charms to lure me, I can definitely stick to my principles." Yes, after saying this, she confidently nodded to herself.

Wen Fucheng: ...

Is that what she thinks? He really didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"If your brother found out, he'd probably beat me to death."

"Relax, he'd at most beat me to death."

Wen Fucheng: ...

She pulled his luggage and was about to leave, Wen Fucheng stopped her at the door.

His tone turned more solemn.

"Ying Jing, do you realize what it means to invite a man to live in your house?" Especially a normal man who has thoughts about her.

"I do! Will you do anything to me?" She was eager for that.

Wen Fucheng shook his head, he couldn't quite understand or articulate that answer. He was very clear about Ying Jing's importance to him, and he realized his resistance to her was steadily weakening.

But Ying Jing misunderstood his head shake.

"Then that's settled, you're not staying forever, you'll have to work, and I'll have to study. Don't I still need to pursue you? I need a chance to pursue you!" Ying Jing watched him intently, speaking frankly.

Her eyes sparkled with light.

Wen Fucheng's hand on the suitcase gradually loosened.

Ying Jing swiftly dragged his luggage downstairs.

Wen Fucheng hesitated for a few steps, then followed her.

The little girl's house was not much different from the past life.

Only in the previous life, he never had the chance to enter.

He knew she would hang a white Dream Catcher on the balcony, and whenever the breeze blew, the bells hanging below would sway with the Dream Catcher.

She once posted on her social media.

Saying she wanted to capture a dream that traveled far across the sea.

The bedroom's bay window had a thick blanket draped over it, along with several petal cushions.

She loved to sit there and read scripts.

When she got tired, she'd sleep on it.

She also shared all kinds of delicious foods.

Her cooking was said to be very delicious, even though he hadn't tasted it, just imagining it from others' reviews made him envious.

Ying Jing liked big balconies, really big ones.

While others liked growing flowers and plants, she preferred growing cabbages, various vegetables, and fruits.

During the blooming season, other people's balconies were full of flowers, but her little space was filled with bountiful harvests.

Beside the vegetable garden, there was even a fish pond with several chubby little fish. When they arrived, they were skinny, but she gradually fattened them up so much that even swimming became difficult.

Other than not loving him in a past life, Ying Jing did everything else so well.

Wen Fucheng walked onto the balcony and, not surprisingly, saw those chubby little fish swimming around energetically.

Ying Jing placed the luggage aside and walked to his side.

"How are they? Aren't the fish I raised beautiful? All chubby and cute."

Wen Fucheng looked at her and smiled.

"Yes, they're very cute."

Ah! Ying Jing noticed the balcony was neglected for a few days, and even the melons were about to fall off.

She immediately rushed into the house and returned with a small basin from the kitchen, carefully cutting the ripe melons down with scissors.

She even pulled two large radishes.

"Tonight we can have radish stew with ribs, you're in luck. You can taste my cooking, I don't cook for just anyone."

"Looks like I'm very lucky."

Ying Jing hummed twice, turned around, and carried the bounty-filled basin back to the kitchen.

Watching her busy figure, Wen Fucheng felt very grateful that Lu Zishu was blind at the time and didn't fall for Ying Jing.

Such a gem of a girl.

Should be cherished by someone who truly cares about her.

"Do you need help?" He walked into the kitchen, and Ying Jing turned around, her hands still wet, flinging droplets onto the man's face.

She immediately grabbed a tissue from the nearby box and reached out to wipe his face.

"Sorry, you startled me by showing up suddenly."

Wen Fucheng stood still, allowing her to wipe off the water from his face.

A moment later, he held her wrist, his voice slightly hoarse.

"I'll do it myself."

"Just a little left, it'll be quick."

After drying him off, Ying Jing crumpled the paper into a ball and threw it into the trash can.

"Don't stay in the kitchen, go take a look around."

Ying Jing stepped out of the kitchen, Wen Fucheng followed closely behind.

As they passed the balcony, even though there was no wind, the Dream Catcher that hadn't moved began to spin.

As the sound of the bells rang out, Ying Jing paused and turned back to look.

The man stood in front of the bells, gently flicking the Dream Catcher.

The clear sound brushed past her ears.

Ying Jing's heart momentarily skipped, as if she managed to catch that yearning that had crossed the ocean.
