When Cui Que reached the first floor, she found it even darker than before.
Only the dim, old-fashioned light bulbs flickered with a disconcerting, weak glow... but the area was kept quite clean.
There were two doors leading outside; one was closed and fitted with frosted glass while the other, though open, was covered with a low-hanging black leather curtain that blocked the light from outside.
The light of early dawn leaked in from under the curtain. Against the backdrop of the dim yellow light, it took on a cold, clean shade of light blue.
As Cui Que approached the door, her ears twitched slightly—she heard Russell's voice.
She immediately slowed her steps, tiptoeing over, curiously pressing her head and tightly pressing her ear against the door curtain, occasionally shaking it to make her ear press even tighter against it.
"...stop smashing it and just go!"
"Wait a second, let me finish smashing this car and then I'll leave..."
