I stood there frozen.
"I hate you."
Each of her words echoed in my chest louder than anything the wind or the world around me could make. With my hand now empty, it hung awkwardly by my side. My fingers slightly curling, I knew I had messed up once again by getting her out of that cafe. I simply hurt her feelings. My jealousy had gotten me here and yet I still have no explanation why I did what I did.
All I know is that I couldn't keep up with watching her seem so happy with someone who wasn't me. I wanted to see her smile; I wanted to make her laugh and yet here she was crying because of me. As I watched those tears stream down her cheeks and saw her tremble not from the cold but from the storm behind her eyes, I realized that I had wronged her.
