She tried to peer in further, but to no avail. There truly was nothing to see. And the longer she looked the more obvious a sense of pressure became to her. The feeling of being persuaded only intensified. Nonetheless, her smile stayed perfect on her face.
But eventually, she jumped up, clapped; and said "Ok!" aloud to herself.
And with no hesitation, she jumped into the void.
Jade was met with a feeling of weightlessness and falling. She kept anticipating the feeling of slamming down to the ground, and the subsequent pain that would come with it. But she seemed to be falling endlessly.
This novel feeling was interrupted by a robotic voice.
"Finally. I was wondering how long it would take."
Jade searched around, or as much as she could, but nothing new had appeared in the darkness.
"Worry not, for no harm will come to you. With my help, you will traverse the many universes and aid me in my search."
This grand claim was met with silence from Jade, who gave up on orienting herself and was now limp like a rag doll.
"The person I serve, my master if you will, has been thrust into worlds I cannot access without your help. With the unique generational trait that you have obtained, we can bring him back home. If your journey is successful you can resume life in your world unharmed."
Jade still ceased to answer.
"You will be a savior and I will be granted forgiveness from my master. Make no mistake though, this task is not light. But I believe we will be successful. What do you say?"
A similar silence was broken after some long moments.
"...What?"
The robotic voice once again began its long promotion.
"The fragments of my master's soul will be saved if we work together. I'm sure that our joint effort will produce the grandest achievement. You will return victori-"
"Sure, sure. Let's go."
Jade interrupted the voice with obvious Impatience, not completely listening.
The voice, who was expecting to lecture a lot longer, was surprised and silent. An awkward silence filled the air as Jade was falling, still smiling.
"...Great! Your decision will be beneficial, I assure you. So here's how it works: You will be transported to the body of someone who has decided to donate themselves. In return, you'll be required to fulfill that soul's wish, otherwise, we won't be able to obtain my master's soul fragment. And to prevent issues with the people around the host body and to prevent inconsistencies with the body itself, you need to act accordingly with the host body's personality."
"Hmm...I'm not great at acting. Could we skip that part?"
"Absolute not. This is not a casual circumstance. You may get rejected by the host body and lose the chance to obtain one of my master's soul fragments."
"Alright, alright. I get it, this is very serious and all. How do I know where your master's soul fragments are and how do I get them?"
Her serene smile was a bit mocking at this point.
