Edmund took a sip of his whiskey as his head turned from left to right in the pub in search of Viscount William. He needed to gather information. He needed to find out what the man was up to. The only thing he knew about the man was that he was into something shady, and most importantly, the man had no good intentions towards his vixen— Susan. The least he could do for her would be to make sure she didn't fall into the wrong hands.
He had been so close to finding out the truth from the man, but he had fallen unconscious amidst their conversation. Ever since then, Edmund had been frequenting the pub in the hope of seeing the man again, but the man in question was nowhere to be found.
Viscount William walked into the pub with his head held high. The smile on his face shone brighter than the lanterns that illuminated the room. His heart was filled with joy. A sense of accomplishment overwhelmed him. He was finally going to be free from his debts! Everything would be fine.
