*Daphne*
After a fitful night of sleep, I opened my eyes, my arm searching for the warmth of my husband, but grabbed onto nothing but air. I blinked tiredly, rubbing an arm across my face before sitting up. I felt the weight from the lack of sleep slam into me as I squinted toward the window beside the bed.
The room was still dark, but the sky was starting to lean away from the nearly black midnight blue to more of a periwinkle. Dawn was approaching.
But where was Rion?
I threw my bare feet over the side of the bed, trying to shake the sleep out of my brain. I crossed the room to where the twins were sound asleep in the crib that we were able to borrow from one of the other pack members. It was made for one child, but the girls were small enough to where that didn’t really matter.
