When Norton Jarvis went to the elegant pavilion to look for Harlan Palmer, Harlan Palmer and Beauty Child had already gone to the auditorium, leaving only White alone, nestled on the couch, staring out at the lake in a daze.
"Hey, what's up? Why so quiet?" Norton Jarvis asked.
White glanced at him, then turned back to the window.
Sometimes the fervor of White was overwhelming, and at other times her aloofness was just as extreme. Norton Jarvis was used to her hot and cold temperament, so he casually sat next to her, grabbed an apple from nearby, and started eating it while commenting, "You look much better today."
When White arrived at Palmer Manor covered in scars, not only was Harlan Palmer shocked, but so was Norton Jarvis. In his mind, White was akin to a deity of medicine, aloof on a cloud, holding a scalpel in one hand and a surgical clamp in the other, always the one to heal others and never to be healed herself. Therefore, he was quite interested in who had hurt her.
