Ave Carlisle had just settled Emma down to sleep, and it was already eleven o'clock at night.
Her phone lit up.
It was a video call.
From Flynn Taylor.
Fortunately, she had gotten into the habit of putting her phone on silent while putting Emma to bed, so the sleeping little creature wasn't woken up.
Ave grabbed her phone, headed to the bathroom, closed the door, and answered the video call.
As soon as the video connected, she could see the man sitting in a large office chair with a solid bookshelf behind him, apparently in his study. Naturally, he could also see she was in the bathroom. He uttered a "Huh" and said, "I should have called later, then maybe I could have seen you taking a bath?"
"Flynn Taylor!" she felt that this man was somewhat different from three years ago.
Seeing her flare up like an angered cat and fearing that she might hang up in irritation, Flynn Taylor asked, "Are you done?"
"Yeah. What is it?"
