Her back hit the wall, and Caibao gathered the last of her courage to hold the cat hidden behind the door, watching nervously under the bed.
The drooping sheets started to flutter again, like undulating waves.
She held her breath, afraid to make any sound, her eyes glued to the sheets, as if the "thing" under the bed was about to emerge!
Her heartbeat continued to accelerate, but the sheets returned to normal.
Everything seemed like an illusion scaring herself, though the black rain outside seemed to be pouring down harder.
