His fingers tapped absently against his watch, checking the time with mild impatience. Smoke curled from his lips, dissipating into the cold night air. His expression was unreadable, showing a casual posture but his eyes, dark, knowing eyes, held an edge, a quiet weight that suggested he wasn't a man to be taken lightly.
Then, headlights cut through the gloom. A car, black pulled up in front of him.
Lin Xun scoffed. He recognized the car immediately. With one last drag, he flicked his cigarette away and stepped toward the waiting car.
Inside, Jiang Yanxu watched him as the door opened. Lin Xun slipped in beside him, shaking droplets of rain from his coat before settling back against the seat.
"About time," Lin Xun muttered. His voice was smooth, low, laced with quiet irritation.
Jiang Yanxu, unfazed, met his gaze with cold amusement. "I appreciate your patience."
