As predicted a few acolytes of the sanctuary killer came calling. Henry let them in and I happily extended my hands so they could check my fingerprints with someone who stayed at Warrant officer Jeanine Carver. To the smug arrogant one's dismay my fingerprints weren't a match. They requested my saliva. Which I handed without question. They left a few minutes after asking a few questions. I went upstairs to take a nap. Henry got a call an hour later saying that I was innocent. Henry was yelling at the guy on the other saying that he had no right to barge in demand for my DNA and my digits. I was a victim not a killer. He knew I was a serial killer but he didn't know that shanking was my favorite method in case of emergency. Zelda and I may have our differences but we agree that on certain times we must back the shank up just so we can shank someone. I looked at the mirror and asked HER if SHE had any fun because I can't recall anything. SHE signed that HER memory is blank about the supposed nine months.
I used the earpiece to inform Tanya that certain people come to test my DNA to ensure I was in fact missing or their suspect. Tanya guaranteed me that the Washington apartment was scrubbed thoroughly so they will have nothing to tie me to. This was the coolest operation that she and I handled since the mortician. She and I agreed that it is a memory we must bury for the sake of our sanity. There was a knock on the bedroom door. I asked her to stay on the line as I figured out our next game plan. The person on the other side was Carter. He was wondering why I wasn't going to the library. I decided that I need the rest so I am going to take a nap instead. I did however have a package that needs delivery. But unfortunately I am still trying to focus on my next project. Carter called it in and my phone buzzed immediately. DD asked me if I was feeling under the weather. I said that I ate something for lunch that seems to wreak havoc in my insides. I have this overwhelming urge to vomit.
I accidentally mentioned a pregnancy test I did. I said that I am waiting for the results. The other side went pin drop silent. Henry walked in and he barely got a word when everyone hushed him. I looked at the test and it was positive. I asked him if he could get me a permit to confirm the test. DD stammered, "Are you...are...are...preg..." I took a deep breath, "According to ten test strips I am officially pregnant. But I want a professional opinion. There are such things as false positives." Henry said, "I think I can get an appointment in the military hospital. Do you want to leave now or later." I smiled, "Later. Right now I just want to get some sleep. Because if I stay awake I might soil myself." DD said that he will finish his assignment as quickly as possible and be on his way. My only job was to get some sleep. He sent a few kisses as congratulations went all round. I lay down as Carter walked off to find the housekeeper to fix me soup. I on the other hand decided to chat with Tanya about the next round. She said that these guys are done. But I made it clear that one of the guys stared at me like he and I had talked face to face. Tanya said we will take evasive maneuvers if we have to. But for now rest.
As I lay down staring at the ceiling I was wondering what I could have done differently that day that could have saved that boy's life. No matter. Tanya is safe and that's all that matters to me. I closed my eyes listening to waves crashing and mysterious sounds heard from the deep blue sea. I woke up to a needle piercing my arm. I slowly opened my eyes to see a lab tech drawing blood. She said that the results will take some time since everyone is trying to figure out if they are infected. The symptoms are short of breath, increase mucus production, increase coughing, nasal blockage, the ability to identify the taste and occasionally the inability to breathe. Some have coughed up blood so they are rushed. So I will get my results the day after tomorrow at the earliest. While a few protested I calmly told her to take her time as every life matters. She gave me a grin and said normally it would take a week since the lab is congested. I asked her if we had met before and she said that she is one of the victims I had rescued from the chemist. She was walking home and this creep came out of nowhere. She was dosed and promised that no one gives a damn if she lives or dies. I was a rookie police officer who barged in and gunned him down. Then I unstrapped before proceeding to search the entire property. I did find a few barrels filled with nasty liquids. I said that he has disposed of his previous victims. Had I not shown up she would be dead. She gave me a wink as she gave me a small cup to pee in.
As Henry was grinning ear to ear. I asked him if his wife was pregnant too. He chuckled till he saw we were followed. Then he called it in to the others flanking us. After he was certain we were being followed I called Nine One One. The nice operator called the officers on stand-by. And these chasers had no choice but to turn around. They managed to evade the authorities. Because the car was left abandoned. Tanya said that it was of the acolytes from L.A. One of them is certain he saw someone who may or may not resemble my appearance. Tanya said that I had used prosthetics in the mission in Washington but not much on L.A. So it is possible he might bust me. So we waited till the next morning. Because these guys came for round two. I happily chatted like I don't have an internal shut up mechanism. The man stared for thirty seconds and walked out. Apparently the girl he saw had different colored hair, eyes and was mute. Tanya was laughing wildly. She wasn't the only one. This time her voice was accompanied by others. I was reintroduced to The Enterprise. A few minutes later he came back with a tablet. I was introduced to a lovely lady sporting a pixie and a British accent. She was battered and badly bruised. She said her name was Cleo. I tilted my head and she said she has never seen me a day in her life. Tanya and the others spent the next twenty minutes looking for her.
Tanya sent a team of mercenaries and got her out of wherever they were torturing her pronto. I quietly asked Tanya why they showed me a complete stranger and Tanya said to go to Wendy's place and she will show me everything. I quietly promised to be there for dinner. I tried getting a permit but failed due to social distance policy. So after failing to get a permit to go to my friend's house I got a permit for an overnight stay to my old penthouse apartment. I made it clear that I wanted to stay by myself so I can focus on painting and staying here with the constant phone call from the relatives of those that didn't make it alive from the pirates incident is stressing me out. So DD relented. Henry wanted at least one guard but he knew that when I am in the zone it can be off putting to see someone. So he drove me to the right address and left after he searched the place well and thoroughly. A package was waiting for me. I searched the place for any sort of bugs. To be extra safe I snuck into my cupboard before I switched on my laptop and put on my headphones to see everything that had happened in the nine month absence. It appears to be body cam footage but it is enough to explain a lot. I was given a new set of ear pieces and a set of instructions to avoid travelling to certain places for the time being. DD will be extra careful about the health of the baby so he will have the legal team handle the harassment.
I walked out of the cupboard and started painting. I painted a scene split down the middle. One side was calm and serene. It exuded a sense of safety and promised that the danger is long gone. I painted it bright vibrant colors. The other side was pure terror. Where the eyes should be was tears, where the heart was supposed to exist was taken over by fear and the sky was replaced with death. I painted in black and white. I tried to make it as bleak as possible. Anyone with a conscious mind will sympathize. I called it the parallels of life. One was the world we all wanted the other was the reality that some people in the globe unfortunately face daily. It is shameful and downright insulting. The next painting was the inside of a dilapidated house that was haunted. I used glowing paint to give the space a more eerie feeling. The next one was an aerial view of a festival with people cheering as floats drove by. I took my sweet time drawing the confetti. I turned around to see DD was watching the painting process and his security was watching with bowls of popcorn. I shook my head, "Boys" Cheryl was watching with awe as well. I think she was taking notes. I asked her if she wanted lessons. She said she would rather watch me paint since it is therapeutic. I shrugged her off as I worked on my last painting. I picked up a canvas and I started to paint an imaginary crime scene.
