CHAPTER START---
"Get away from me," Burnin brushes off the nurse, finally getting the woman to stop bothering her while marching down the halls of UA. "Get to the Warp Gate. Don't bother with healing anyone right now!"
The frowns, wiping the sweat from her brow as Burnin shoves open the door to Nezu's control room and leaves her behind.
Nezu glances her way, seeing her enter with her right arm in a sling and bandages on her legs, the flames on her head gone, spent to rush them back to UA.
"I ordered you to evacuate." Nezu turns back to the monitors, observing the tens of thousands of civilians rushing into UA toward the Warp Gate in the training field.
"Me? You should have evacuated already."
She walks over to the monitors, joining him in observing the controlled chaos.
"How long before everyone is out of here?"
Nezu frowns. "I don't know if we can get everyone out. Between Mandalay and Tsukauchi, we can verify hundreds at a time, but we have to keep weeding out the Villains hiding in the crowd."
Mandalay focuses on one monitor, seeing Musutafu being swarmed with Villains as Pro Heroes desperately fight to hold the line.
"We're about to be overwhelmed," Nezu says, just as another alarm blares in the room.
He taps a few buttons and a screen shifts to show a map of Japan, and a red dot quickly racing across it toward them.
"All For One," he mutters. "Burnin, how did you survive him?"
Tsukuyomi and I were injured, and he said he wanted Dark Shadow. But…he didn't want to directly hurt a former member of Team Horizon."
"That's not a luxury we all share." Nezu turns to Mandalay. "Announce to everyone that we have minutes to leave. Tell the Pro Heroes to fight while retreating."
"But that will leave thousands of civilians exposed to the Villains."
"This is simply the best we can do…"
---Meanwhile, Outside…
Flying above the battlefield, cloaked in powerful winds, Whirlwind -Inasa Yoarashi-, controls his Quirk to suppress dozens of Villains at once.
His broken right arm and shoulder ache and remain limp as he waves his left hand around, controlling the wind like an orchestra of pressure and force.
"You're not getting past me!" he screams while pushing his Quirk to its limit, creating a powerful gale that tears up the city of Musutafu, shattering concrete buildings and roads to pelt the Villains and Nomu with debris.
Behind him, civilians and fellow Pro Heroes retreat, desperate to get away from the army of Villains and Nomu.
"Whirlwind, we need to go!" his friend screams from the ground below, using his Vibration Quirk to amplify his voice through the winds.
"Then go! I'm the only one with the range and area of effect to keep these guys from getting to UA. I'll catch up!"
"You're a bad liar!"
Whirlwind feels his body losing energy, weakening his winds, exhaustion creeping up on him.
'Yeah, I know,' Whirlwind thinks, seeing a giant Nomu charging toward him at full speed.
Glancing back, he sees the retreating crowd, and his friend standing his ground as a second layer of defense.
"You're not getting to them!" he pushes beyond his limit, adrenaline surging once more as he condenses his wind stream toward the giant Nomu. "You're not getting past me!"
The wind hits like a horizontal tornado, tearing apart everything in its path and nearby, picking up Nomu and Villains, dragging them into a vacuum to suffocate them while bombarding them with debris from the city.
"Damn it," Whirlwind frowns, seeing the giant Nomu pushing through his winds, anchoring itself with enormous claws on its feet while steadily taking steps toward him.
He glances left and right, seeing that his area of effect has decreased, allowing Villains to get past him and leaving everyone behind him vulnerable.
"You won't hurt them!" Whirlwind screams, desperately trying to expand the tornado to protect everyone.
The entire battlefield in front of him erupts in an explosion of wind, shaking the entire city and UA's campus.
The shockwave is so great that it sends him tumbling back, breaking his focus and forcing him to land beside his friend.
"Holy crap, since when could you do that?" his friend asks, peering up at the tornado reaching past the overcast sky and ripping the Villains and giant Nomu away from the earth in one go.
"That wasn't me," Whirlwind says as the adrenaline fades, but his friend supports him as he stumbles forward.
Before anyone could guess what happened, a deep and cheerful laugh echoed through the battlefield.
And with it, a sense of relief washes over the civilians, while a bone-chilling dread paralyzes the Villains.
"Sorry I'm late, young Pro Heroes," All Might waves his hand, clearing the dust cloud and pushing back more Villains.
Everyone is staring at him, unsure of what's about to happen. They see his Hero Costume, clinging to his body with the left sleeve removed because of the missing limb.
And yet, while everyone knew what this was.
A Hero using the last drop of life to save just a few more lives.
Admiration, fear, and amazement froze them.
A mix of emotions that only All Might could inspire.
All Might glances back at Whirlwind and his friend, giving them a thumbs up and his famous smile. "Get as many people as you can to the Warp Gate. Don't worry about this swarm of Villains. They won't bother you anymore, because…I am here!"
Those three words usher in a sense of security through the Pro Heroes and civilians, while the Villains and even many High-End Nomu, instinctively take a step back.
Whirlwind nods and uses his Quirk to lift himself and his friend into the air, not wasting a moment to retreat.
Not wanting to get in All Might's way.
"Now, how about I teach you what happens to bullies?" All Might turns to the Villains and Nomu, his expression shifting into one of fury as he punches forward.
His punch hits like a nuclear shockwave, cutting a swath through the city from him to the very edge.
Four city blocks wide, every building is shattered into dust and pushed out of the city within seconds, along with the streets and roads from many meters deep underground.
Leaving a trench stretching from the base of UA's perch to the edge of Musutafu.
The other Villains and Nomu respond quickly, charging him, but they're no match for his speed or power.
He moves so fast they can't even notice a blue, crushing everyone and everything in his path.
All around the city, winds rage and the weather distorts as every movement creates a new pressure zone.
A cacophony of blows so immense that the battlefield was worse than being inside any blender, that had they now known better, they thought the world was ending and Earth was being terraformed.
Immense heat spread around the battlefield while winds raged and rain fell, power so absurd that nature itself was unsure of how to respond.
'Just a few more minutes,' All Might thinks as he crushes hundreds of opponents each minute, desperately trying to make an impact before his life fully fades away.
For just a few minutes, by using everything left of One For All within him, he was able to access the power he once held in his youth, all to make a difference.
One last time.
And that is exactly what he does.
'The evacuation is almost done,' Mandalay says to him a few minutes later. 'You can retu—'
The telepathic connection breaks as an amused voice pulls All Might's attention upward, away from the devastated landscape around him.
"That woman is so convenient that it's annoying," All For One says, standing in the air. "You're not what I expected to see here, All Might. But now I understand why UA still isn't under my control. After all, you are the final and greatest bastion for it."
All Might watches him descend and stand on the battlefield, a few dozen meters away from him.
He scowls at the sight of the man.
"You looked better in that life support headgear," All Might says. "Want me to put you back into one?"
All For One chuckles, running a hand over his reformed face. "Ah, yes, that was a valuable lesson you taught me. I learned I could be beaten, and I grew much stronger because of that lesson."
"This time it'll be a final lesson," All Might raises a fist, ready to charge forward.
But All For One only smiles, tilting his head and looking past All Might, toward UA. "Stalling a few more seconds to protect them, very heroic. But UA doesn't interest me anymore. All the useful people are gone. Now, it's only you."
All Might narrows his eyes at the man. "I know what you're doing too, trying to get Warp Gate, right?"
All For One frowns.
"Yeah, we figured as much. Phantom Thief won't open any of those around you, not even to save me."
"You can't be saved," he playfully points at All Might. "I can see the lack of power in you. Within a minute, your body will become an empty husk. You've used more power than you had left. It's almost impressive in some ways."
"That's only possible because I understand the true essence of being a Hero."
"Oh, and what's that? The power of friendship?" All For One chuckles, glancing about at the drones recording above, giving them a show.
"The essence of a Hero is to sacrifice yourself for others." All Might rushes forward, appearing in front of All For One with his fist reared back. "That's why you'll never win!"
All For One knows the cameras are on him and takes this moment to make a statement to the world.
To say and show that he surpasses anything they have, surpassing all but two beings ever to exist in this world.
"New Order—" The rest of his command is mental, leaving everyone watching very confused.
But he uses his one Order to compress everything in the space ahead of him into a marble, ripping away the city, ground, corpses, and All Might, crushing them into a marble and having it hover over his palm.
A 100m -330ft- gaping chasm is left in the battlefield with him standing at the edge, admiring his work.
The marble hovers between his fingers, moving about his hand like a toy.
"So much power in one sentence, and yet, she had three," All For One smiles so wide it threatens to split his face. "You two are gods, or in her case, was a god. Now, it's about time there was a devil to balance it out…"
He holds the super-dense marble and positions it between his fingers, lining up his shot with UA and the hill it rests upon.
He flicks his finger, using a combination of Quirks and New Order to launch the marble like a tactical nuke.
---Elsewhere…
Sitting at his desk while working on a new variation of the Panacea, Law's gaze is stuck on his second monitor, watching UA and its forlorn perch be shatters and blasted away.
He sees some civilians who didn't get evacuated become red mist within the attack and looks away.
"You shouldn't watch that."
Law is startled as Ryuko places her arms around his shoulders, resting her head atop his while hugging him from behind.
"You surprised me."
"Because that's how distracted you were," she says. "Watching them get hurt will only make the regret worse."
"There is no regret, only what I agreed to. Besides, they knew the risks and had every chance to leave, like Mina, like Mei, even Ojiro and Toru did."
"But watching people we care about get hurt still hurts us."
"I gave my word," he says.
"Yes, but that didn't include never checking in on them afterward. They're probably in America right now. That's close by."
Law leans back and sighs, closing his eyes in a desperate attempt to relax. "Fuyumi hates me for not stopping All For One, and that was before all of this happened. Why would they be any different?"
"Maybe they won't be, but there is only one way to find out." She leans over toward his desk and grabs his phone, holding it in front of him.
Law nods, "Call Juzo," he commands, and his phone obeys.
"Where are you?!" Juzo frantically asks.
"Chile."
"Get to Manhattan, Nezu got hurt…"
