Everyone froze on the spot.
The author of "The Knight's Guide to Maturation" twitched his lips.
"Yes, you heard me correctly." Gray's voice resonated once again across the square. He declared loudly, "Based on what I've observed so far, I regret to inform you that the new ordinances are unsuitable. I am hereby rescinding them all. There will be no more free money; you must work to support yourselves. Nor will there be lenient laws—everyone must take responsibility for their lives and treat others kindly."
"Why?!" someone shouted urgently.
"Because I have realized these policies are not right for you. Not forever, but at least for now, they are not suitable. Perhaps one day, I will implement them again, but not today. We must proceed gradually, so everyone can slowly understand this new way of life. And then..."
"We already understand life!" someone interrupted Gray, shouting, "We're living happily!"
"Yeah, we're living happily!"
"You can't take away our happiness!"
