Bertha Swift came down from the stage, her forehead glistening with a thin layer of sweat that brought out a bright red on her heavily made-up face, masking the sickly pallor beneath.
Maria White came over and hugged her waist, "Bertha, you were amazing!"
Bertha Swift wasn't quite accustomed to such intimate gestures and awkwardly reached out to push Maria White a bit, "You were great too."
"How could I compare to you? Did you see how so many people were frantically taking photos of you just now, completely ignoring the lead singer?" Maria White released Bertha Swift, though her voice carried hints of excitement.
Bertha Swift shook her head, "I didn't notice. Now that it's over, can we get paid and leave?"
Rather than caring about the attention, Bertha Swift was more concerned about when she could receive her money and leave.
Maria White snapped back to reality and replied, "I'll go ask right away."
