Chapter 4 - The World Snake

The three move forward, making their way through the depths of the ocean. Barely able to see, Fin looks at Cerberus, and a thought comes to mind.

"Can your ice melt by heat?"

"Depends on what kind of heat?"

Fin looks at her then back at Cerberus "Well, we do have a hellhound on our side, who could possibly produce a fire we could see with."

"Hmmm. Hell fire. Not my strong point, but not stronger than my ice. We could try."

He stops kneels down, opening his bag to find an unlit torch. "Hey, boy. Can you catch this on fire for me?"

Cerberus looks at him then the torch, then back at him and whimpers.

"He can't in his current form."

"You understand him?"

"If you had told me he was a hellhound sooner, I could have asked him before we came this far down."

Fin sighs and puts the torch back in his bag and stood up. The moment he stood up, he jolts forward for a second as if he felt something sharp.

"You sensed it too, did you not?"

"You felt that too? What was that pressure?"

"It was him. He must have sensed us nearby. It felt more of a warning, than a sense."

Fin looked over at his sister, she was right. That was the first time he had ever felt that before. Especially coming from a sibling. The three cautiously continued forward until they were greeted by a massive under water chasm that spread for miles. Fin and Hel look at each other, then nod then make their way down the chasm.

1000 Years from Now:

Fenrir stood ready to attack, eyes glowing red and his fog flowing from his back covering everything behind him. In front of him was a giant serpent whose body stretches for miles almost out of view. His head looked like a dragon, menacingly staring the giant wolf down as he bares his fangs. After staring each other down, Fenrir makes the first move and charges at the giant serpent. he bites down around the serpents neck while at the same time being coiled by him. Fenrir howls and begins to jump around until they smash into the nearest mountain, breaking half of the mountain. Moments of the two bouncing, a massive bolt of lighting strikes the two, causing them to split off again.

"Fenrir! Jormangundr! I have had enough of your quarrel" An older man appears between the two. He carried a spear and wore a win horned helmet. Only his eyepatch and long white beard were visible. "I should end you both for ruining this mountain."

Fenrir calmed down and looked down "Grandfa... I mean Lord Odin, please forgive me."

After hearing his brother apologize, he looks back down at his grandfather and bows his head. "Lord Odin..."

"Your father has asked me to forgive you both for your rude behavior. Do not forget, mortals do live on this world as well as you both. You both live to protect this world and nothing more." He knew lying on the spot would be a mistake later in the future, but shook his head. "For now I am forced to banish you both in order to separate you two..."

The brothers looked at each then nodded in agreement.

Present Time:

Fin, Hel, and Cerberus finally made it to the center of the chasm but were greeted by large serpents with arrow like heads. Fin readies the Khopesh he acquired from Set and Anubis. Cerberus growls and crouches, but Hel seemed to have had a plan. The serpents all darted towards the barrier, but were instantly greeted by frozen spikes pierced through there heads, freezing each one of the serpents, then shattering.

"You two can relax. We're to far for any Kraken types and these serpents aren't enough."

"I'm not worried about them. If these things are everywhere here in this chasm, then what was he warning us about?"

Fin stays ready to fight just to hear roars. Roars so loud that all of the arrow headed serpents panicked and spread out. Fin glances over to Hel then back in the direction of the roars. After a moment of silence, a large head appears from a cave in the chasm, followed by another and another head. The monster they had just encountered were unknown to them both. Its large body and arms indicated that it was a Hydra.

"I don't suppose you can freeze that too?"

"Unfortunately, no, and my other powers require being near it."

The monster hisses just in time for a massive mouth open from the cave and devour the beast whole.

The siblings stood there in awe, then looked at each other.

"That wasn't you was it?" They ask in unison, then look back in the direction of where the Hydra was.

"How much longer must you two stand there in a daze?" The familiar voice asked then the giant Serpent slithers its head from the cave and reveals himself.

"I am still chained in to this cave, if you do not mind helping your brother out.... Fenrir... Hel."

Fin and Hel look at each other, then both look back at the serpent. "Jormangundr..."
