Present day.
Barbara pulls the wing ding out of the wall and looks at it.
"Not a bad design. It suits you."
Dick doesn't say anything, just silently stares at Barbara with a blank expression on his face, folding his arms.
"I take it, by your lack of utter shock and surprise that you've known."
"Known what exactly? That the bullet that supposedly killed you, actually paralyzed you instead, or that you've been alive this entire time, and just forgot to mention it to me?"
"Kinda feel like your more pissed about the second part."
"Wow, and I really thought I was being subtle."
"When did you find out?"
"Dosen't matter."
Barbara let's out a sigh.
"I can leave, if that's what you want."
Dick smiles out of frustration and anger.
"Well Barb, you came all the way back from the dead just to visit me so...what do you want?"
"I just wanted to check up on you, boy wonder."
"Don't call me that."
Dick snaps back at her. Barbara smiles and rolls around Dicks hideout.
"Nice set up. I noticed you're not using Wayne tech."
"It's Kord tech. Blue beetle owed me a favor."
"Kord? Really?"
"Better design. Look did you really just come here just to see the tech I was using?"
"I already told you why I'm here."
Dick scoffs at Barbara.
"Listen, after Jason...I've been worried about you. So is Alfred, and Bruce. Even if he won't admit it."
Dick looks down in sadness when he hears Jason's name, but gets angry when he hears about Bruce.
"I can take care of myself, thank you."
"You can do it better with some back up. I can always-"
"Thanks, but I don't need your help. And to be completely honest...I don't want it."
"Come on, Grayson."
"You really don't get it, do you? I mourned your death for a year and a half, and all that time you were alive and you didn't think to tell me, and neither did Bruce."
"Me and Bruce did what we had to, Dick."
"That's not the problem! You two let me believe that another person that I loved...was gone...and that I couldn't stop it from happening. And you know the funny thing is? Of all people, I expected Bruce to understand that the most."
A tear falls down Barbara's cheek.
"Do you think it was easy for me?"
"Honestly, I don't know. Because through this whole conversation, you never even tried to apologize once."
A silence falls over the room for a moment.
"Look, I gotta go do late night Patrol. You can let yourself out."
Dick grabs his suit and puts it on. Barbara then pulls a small device out of her pocket for him.
"Here. Use this if you're ever in trouble."
"I won't need it."
"Please take it. For me."
Dick let's out a sigh and takes the device. He then puts on his mask and walks upstairs. He looks back at Barbara one more time with a sad expression on his face. He straightens his face and leaves.
Later that night, a weapons deal takes place in a dark alley. As the deal almost ends, Nightwing jumps in, landing on one of the parked cars.
"Who the hell is that?" one of the thugs asks.
"Alright boys, I have a lot of steam to blow off. Let's get started."
Two of the thugs aim their guns at Nightwing, but dick throws his batons at their heads, knocking them out. He then runs, jumps in the air, and kicks another guy in the chest. Another guy throws a punch at him, but nightwing catches it, breaks his arm, and flips him to the ground. He then punches the thug in the face, knocking him out.
Dick raises his fist to punch the thug again, but restrains himself from going too far. He then hears sirens coming his way, and runs off.
