Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Finally Touched the Mobile Phone and Computer Again (Seeking Recommendations, Seeking Favorites)

After a week in the shelter, Chen Xin finally waited for the moment when the light bulb stopped flickering. He quickly opened the iron box and took out the mobile phone, laptop, and game console inside, hastily tearing off the foil paper.

Eagerly switching them on one after another, Chen Xin finally once again felt the happiness brought by technology.

For modern humans, mobile phones have long been an indispensable part of life. Even without the internet and mobile signals, a smartphone can still provide many services.

A variety of fancy and complex apps may not seem significant, but if you observe carefully, you will notice these apps have already permeated all aspects of our lives.

Just like Chen Xin used to spend half an hour on his phone every morning after waking up and before going to bed, not to browse anything specific or chat with anyone, just out of a compulsive habit, he had to tap on every app installed on his phone.

Even now, without a network signal, the first thing Chen Xin did after charging and powering on his phone was instinctively to open each app, hoping to see any new messages.

However, no signal means no signal. Even if Chen Xin browsed every app, all the messages were still from a week ago, the last one almost exclusively being news about the failed interception mission and the meteor crashing into Blue Planet.

Silently staring at the last piece of news on his phone, after a long while, Chen Xin sighed deeply, feeling a bit dejected.

Because this news signified the end of the brilliant civilization of humanity's past, ushering them into a new era filled with hardships and obstacles.

One could even say that this news sounded the trumpet ending humanity's era of splendor and brilliance, and now humanity will struggle to survive in the long polar night.

But after a period of despondency, Chen Xin pulled himself together again.

The old order of human civilization may have been destroyed, but for humanity, it's far from the time to lose hope.

The splendor and brilliance of human civilization may have become a thing of the past, but human civilization still exists! Humanity survives!

Even though we've lost the home we relied on for survival, fallen into a predicament where food, energy, and various supplies are scarce, and the entire world is enveloped in cold and darkness!

But as long as humanity still exists and we haven't given up hope, we will surely overcome difficulties! Overcome everything in front of us and rebuild our home!

This is precisely the most precious and greatest spirit of humanity, and it's the reason we've been able to progress step by step from the fireless era of eating raw meat to becoming the rulers of this planet, establishing a brilliant civilization, even freeing ourselves from the shackles of gravity to set foot in the universe, where no one has ventured before since ancient times!

Because humanity always harbors hope.

This hope is like a spark, perhaps insignificant, perhaps unimpressive.

But precisely because hope exists, we can continuously overcome one hardship after another, cross one obstacle after another, and pass down the light of human civilization from generation to generation!

Perhaps the predicament we face today is indeed very harsh, but compared to ancient times when our ancestors only had sticks and stones to confront even harsher environments, we have far more than our ancestors ever did!

Solid and warm shelters have replaced our ancestors' caves

Warm clothing has replaced our ancestors' furs

Various fully functional tools have replaced primitive stone tools

Mighty war machines are far superior to sticks and stone axes

With so many conditions far better than our ancestors, what reason do we have not to be able to clear obstacles like our ancestors and open up new paths amid the thorny bushes?

After adjusting his mood, Chen Xin then turned on the computer and began to organize the materials at hand.

Knowing from the start that there would be no network or mobile signal after hiding in the shelter, Chen Xin downloaded a wealth of information on his phone and laptop, even creating a mobile hard drive specifically for storing a lot of content.

This information includes a full set of written and video explanation versions of cultivation methods for various crops grown in a greenhouse, complete data on generator failure detection and repair, a full set of car maintenance tutorials...

In short, whatever Chen Xin could think of, he downloaded and stored on his computer and phone to avoid the difficulties of finding information without a network.

And with this information, at least in the following days, Chen Xin wouldn't be at a loss for what to do when he encountered problems.

Of course, recreational activities like novels, movies, and games are also indispensable.

However, without the internet, several novels Chen Xin had been following would never be concluded in his lifetime, and for games, he could only play the ones already downloaded, which are offline.

Even if it's just offline games, for Chen Xin, who hadn't touched any electronic products for a whole week, even something like Solitaire or Minesweeper would be good, not to mention he had quite a few AAA titles on his computer.

Finally holding the electronic products he missed, Chen Xin didn't rush to play a game to relax but instead checked all the stored information on his computer, ensuring that these important records weren't damaged by the EMP shockwave, and then, using his laptop, he began to plan the upgrade of the shelter following his notes.

Previously, Chen Xin had always written with pen and paper, inevitably making things somewhat concise for convenience; now that he could use a computer, naturally, he started using Excel spreadsheets to make the upgrade information of the shelter more clear and intuitive.

To easily and intuitively understand the specific condition of the shelter, Chen Xin also used CAD drawings to make a set of simple blueprints of the shelter to facilitate better planning.

The simplest and most direct upgrade to the shelter is, of course, an overall upgrade, which is the most convenient and straightforward method.

But the survival points needed for a complete upgrade of the shelter are a target difficult for Chen Xin, with a daily income of less than two figures, to achieve in the short term.

"Simple Shelter"

"Upgrade Plan One: Upgrade the shelter's defense level, enhance disaster resistance capability, and improve living comfort; the overall technology of the shelter +1, upgrade requires 12,000 survival points"

"Upgrade Plan Two: Expand the living space of the shelter, increase the number of residents it can accommodate, and improve the supply capability for goods; the number of residents the shelter can accommodate +5, upgrade requires 15,000 survival points"

Still sticking to two different upgrade path options, Chen Xin didn't look at the required survival points behind them that would raise his blood pressure. He only analyzed from the two upgrade plans provided by the system how he should improve the shelter to enhance his living conditions.
