Since the Dragonburned Messer, apart from the name, had not changed much, there was no reason to test the new blade. Happy with the first experiment showing great results, Seth turned to the Ravenous Sog, which had absorbed the 10 liters of relic-rated dragon blood.
Although the sword had absorbed the dragon blood, there was no massive change in the effects of the blade. Only the fifth effect, which added 60% to the damage of skills, had improved to +70% for Skill and Spell Damage.
Seth didn't intend to discount this improvement, but it was no great change in the appraisal result. It didn't seem like much compared to what happened to the Draconic Blade. On the other hand, the fact that relic-rated blood couldn't even raise its durability or damage meant that the weapon was just that good already.
What really mattered was what the legendary blood would be able to do to the blade. Anticipating this, Seth filled the scabbard he prepared for the Ravenous Sog with heart blood before sheathing the sword.
The reaction was much quicker and more volatile than earlier. There was no slow heating up or fire. In one moment, the sheath made of sheet metal was glowing bright white; the next moment, sparks of molten metal flew across the workshop, as the scabbard exploded, leaving Seth with only the Ravenous Sog in his hand and molten metal all over his clothes.
Seth heard the notification before he took a look at the sword in his hand. Unique? He had expected the Ravenous Sog to follow suit and also become a legendary weapon upon absorbing the blood of a dragon, but it seemed like that was not the case.
At first glance, there was almost no change. The Ravenous Sog was a traditional long sword, the shape perfected for combat, and it still was. Unlike the Dragonburned Blade, the sword stayed a pristine silver; if anything, it had gained an even brighter luster.
The only visible change to the Ravenous Sog was a clear diamond-shaped gemstone that had appeared on the ricasso at the base of the blade, right above the hilt. The blacksmith had never set any stones in his blades, so it had to be a change brought about by the growth. Curious what all this was, he finally appraised the sword.

An exceedingly excellent sword created by Master Smith, the first Master Blacksmith and Master Enchanter of Urth, with minute attention to detail and a clear function in mind. The superior craftsmanship improved its performance to its physical limits, while the enchantments lend an opportunity for growth.
After Grand Sorceress Al'Zalsar had bestowed the sword with powerful enchantments, Craftsman Smith further modified the sword using mysterious and terrifying means. Once this sword becomes widely known, play a role in the user's ascent to a legend, or absorb enough souls, the item will become legendary.>
Seth blinked a few times and cleared his throat when he saw the various changes the Ravenous Sog had gone through. Starting from the top, its rating had changed, and its base stats had improved. Like the Dragonburned Messer, it had also gained 2000 magical damage as base damage.
The luster both weapons exhibited was a visible indication of the magical damage, like a permanent mana blade. Addition Skill and Spell damage had also improved again, now doubling either. The additional magic damage on attacks, which was separate from the sword's basic magic damage, had also improved.
As awesome as that was, the new trait, Mana Core, was even more special. It allowed the Ravenous Sog to create a Mana Core that could store and circulate mana more efficiently, just like a dragon could.
Obviously, this was the trait of a dragon, the sword had inherited, and the direct cause for the sudden appearance of a decorative jewel and the last new effect, the additional mana. Now, the sword had a physical mana container the user could use, too.
Previously, its mana came purely from its soul, which was not big enough to provide additional mana. The question was, would the new mana storage capability grow? The blacksmith decided that he would have to use the Ravenous Sog the next time he went adventuring.
He usually didn't use it because the greedy bastard ate the souls of its victims to grow, voiding one of the points of adventuring, which was collecting fresh souls. Usually, the Ravenous Sog was a weapon meant for enemies he really disliked...
Now, some creatures would have to say goodbye to their souls, so Seth could see how the new abilities affected the weapon. But that would not happen today. The blacksmith had was fine stopping here today and quickly go to his beautiful girlfriends.
...
Asterion was alarmed by a sudden sound. A low rustling and a quiet scraping over stone. Not uncommon in a mountain valley, but the direction was important. The mighty minotaur had been standing guard over the Valley of Bones, as it came to be called because of the heap of giant dragon bones slowly corroding the environment with their curse.
The gatekeeper of Minas Mar had been enjoying the change of pace at his new workplace, as he stood guard in a new environment. Protecting the loot and the Imugi felt more important compared to his time standing in front of the secret entrance to the magic tower's underground cave.
With his massive labrys ready, the minotaur followed the direction which the sound had come from. It was close to the massive dragon bones Seth had left here for a lack of storage. The scraping became louder and the bovine guard spotted a small patch of loose gravel close by.
In the light of the stars and the moon, he was able to make out movements, fitting the scraping. Was a thief trying to dig a tunnel past his vigilant eyes? If that was the case, Asterion would have felt tempted to let them take some away.
The bones themselves were marked by a powerful curse that would harm any ordinary thief. The loot itself would be their punishment. In that sense, Asterion's presence was more to protect everyone else from the bones than to protect the treasure from thieves.
That was if it were a normal thief. With a quick and rigorous stab, he sunk the butt of his labrys into the soft spot of gravel. With a yelp, ten meters of rock floor broke open and a black, serpentine beast surfaced from the ground.
"Tatzel! I told you that you can't do this!" the minotaur reprimanded the young pseudo-dragon that had tried to snack on the cursed candy.
"Ouch! But did you have to be so rough?" the Imugi pouted, holding its paw that was struck by the guard.
"No, otherwise you won't learn it. You can't just wake up once in a while and eat all the materials here. How am I supposed to explain to Seth, when he returned, and there is less than a quarter of the original skeleton left?"
"But, I need just a little more to-"
"No, you said that the last few times, and it was never enough. I doubt that, even if you eat the whole skeleton, it would be enough to reach the legendary status. Instead of trying to cheat your way there, you should contact the others already. They are worried for you," Asterion didn't give in to the child's tantrum.
Although he was no older than the black snake, he seemed much more mature and responsible.
"I'm not allowing you to pilfer any more of the dragon bones until you contact Seth and ask for permission."
"…FINE! I will, was that what you wanted to hear? I will contact Mom and I will tell him that you allowed me to eat bones without his permission! Is that what you want?" the pseudo-dragon tried to blackmail the minotaur in a childish twist of things. Asterion stayed cool.
"Go ahead. I will just say that you snuck past me using magic. Who do you think he will believe? The little dragon that kept it secret that he was awake, or me, the responsible gate guardian?" Asterion said surprisingly callous.
Tatzel's eyes ripped open wide. The snakelet was taken aback when the softy suddenly showed his teeth. He struggled for a moment, trying to come up with a way to resist, but ultimately…
"…I will go home now," Tatzel said harshly and ran off, too proud to admit his defeat.
