Chapter 2 - BAD NEWS

Shawney's heart warmed up to him, yet she spoke the truth without hesitation, "Well, Sir, I really cannot say much. I have been away from the village for three years. Right now, I am in no position to give any direction. I am unaware of any changes that may have occurred during my absence, but I can assure you I know the feeling"

Train admired her sincerity and wanted to continue speaking. At that moment, he felt a comfort he wasn't able to explain. "Please, child, come and take a seat. There is no need to be afraid. I do need your assistance with this matter."

Reaching out his hand feeling comfortable in his heart, knowing he can reveal his feelings and concerns to her. He said with all honesty as he introduces his name, "My name is Train Mac Carty, and whatever help you can give will be highly appreciated. Also, I don't think the village has changed much during the last three years that you have been away. You see, I also left my home some months ago, and right now I need some peace to help strengthen this old, tired body.

Also, I think a good night's rest with some relaxation will help. My appearance is just a matter of time, but I will deal with it as soon as I get accommodation. Then with a few days' rest, I would be good to go again."

"Sir, try to understand what I am saying, I am not living much further ahead. And I don't think I can be of much assistance anyhow. But hearing your dilemma, I am willing to assist whatever way I can."

Train, was persistent, "Please, child, why don't you sit down? You look exhusted yourself."

Hearing him call her child fills her heart with joy. When he opens the door, Shawney sits down.

Observing how the gentleman was always glancing at her, and then he smiled.

Unaware of what he was thinking, but he doesn't seems to be in a hurry Now he was driving under twenty km.

'Oh, Lord! whatever he is thinking up. I trust it's not evil. I know I didn't seek your direction to get into his vehicle. And I don't even know the person. Lord, I am your humble servant and am at Your mercy." with her yes tighty close she ried out to the Lord, "Please my Lord, whatever his intentions are, please turn them into a blessing.'

Glancing her direction expecting her to say something,,observing her eyes closed, he then focusing on his driving. He said, "You are very quiet, my dear. I was hoping you would give me some direction, that is the reason I am driving so slowly."

With her eyes still closed, a smile appear on her lips, Shawney replies sweetly. "Sir, I told you earlier, my home is not much further."

"Look, child, there's a signboard."

Shawney eyes flips open hearing his word as he slow down to read the signboard, "Let me check it out, and then I will drop you off at your destination."

When Train heard her whisper, "My God, this can't be right? How can they turned my home into apartments for rent?"

Train notices the tears and the way she covers her mouth. "Oh no, what have they done to my mom's flower garden?" Unable to believe her eyes, Shawney, could not hold back the tears.

"How could Dad allow Aunty Joan to destroy Mom's flower garden and build all those apartments?"

The pain Train saw in her face brought many concerns. Driving into the premises, hoping to get an available apartment.

Thinking, 'There's no need to continue in his quest. This child is around twenty-nine. And fits the perfect description in my mind.

She is also the right age for my Torren.' Train observie how slowly she alights the van as if all hope is gone, and the tears keep flowing down her cheeks, which saddens my heart.

Train watched as she used the side of the building that had a signboard, Registration Office.

Stepping inside, going directly to the desk. When no one came to his assistance, Train knocks his keys on the countertop.

Hearing a grouchy voice. "I'm coming!" when she did appear. Train jumps backwards, 'My goodness, is this her Aunt?'

When the response came, "Can I help you, Sir?" Her voice was rough and she seemed very ill-tempered.

Taking courage Train didn't want to go anywhere else wanting to keep an eye on her, 'Dear God, if it wasn't for that child. I would turn tail and run seeking other accommodation but I have to speak with her..'

Ignoring her response, he knew from deep within his heart. 'All the months he has been searching for a potential companion. This child is the first person who seems suitable to be my Torren's wife. And my instinct has never failed me before. Now I must find out if she is married and if not, my only prayer is she will accept My Proposal.'

"Mister, I am very busy, so please let me know how I can be of assistance, or kindly don't waste my time."

Train realized he was so lost in thoughts that he didn't respond to her immediately.

Ignoring her appearance Train said, "I am very sorry Ma'am, but I was wondering if you have an available room for rent?"

There wasn't even a small smile on her grumpy face, "Do you want a room downstairs or an upstairs room, Sir?"

With a calm heart, he said although he was displeased with her appearance, "Downstairs would be just fine, Ma'am."

Observing the way she shoved the form in front of him and said, "Then fill out this form and we will proceed from there."

Taking the form Train sits by the table and reads it through. Returning the form Train stood aside and waited, asking himself, 'How can she conduct a business wearing such disgusting clothes?' He felt disgusted in his heart but he didn't want this opportunity to slip through his fingers.

"Sir, you didn't state how long you will be staying?"

Train avoided looking at her when he said, "Ma'am, I can't say for definite, it will depend on how long my business takes in this village."

Collecting the keys, he was led to the gate where the child entered. Following the Aunt seeing room number twenty.

The numbers were painted big and bold on the door. "Here you go, Sir."

Train smiled and said, "Thank you, ma'am," Train then turned his attention towards the huge building.

Thinking, 'This child doesn't know how good a business this is. Now, that Aunt at the front is an automatic turn-off.'

Entering the room, 'Why do I sense deep within my heart that all of this business, doesn't seem to be of any importance to the child?'

Opening the window Train overheard a soothing voice saying to her. "Shawney honey, your father became very ill these last few months. Honey, we had no idea where you were and how to reach you or to get in contact with you."

Hugging her feeling the hot tears soaking his jersey, "Honey, if I only had the slightest inkling that you were coming today. I would have kept his body an extra day."

Train heard the cry, and then he heard the person comfort her. When he said, "Shawney, your Aunt insisted that the burial be done early."

'Goodness, gracious Lord, did her father die? This is not good,' Train thought. 'It seems her cry had alerted the other family members.'

Train heard other voices getting closer to her when the person said to her. "Here come your brothers and sisters Shawney, they missed you so much."

He listens with concern to them as they greet her. Train thought, 'Not one of them said welcome home, or I miss you Shawney.'

When one said in a sort of bossy voice, "Shawney, do you know how much work we have to do in this place? We have to attend to the cleaning and maintenance of this big house. Plus this family's new business. If only you were here it would have been so much easier." The person informed her.
