Stepping into the banquet hall, Tang Li's eyes were met with a vision of gleaming splendor; waiters in cheongsam bustled between the large, round tables, and the tableware was all made of fine bone china, luxurious and precious under the light's reflection.
Lai Wenyan and his group arrived quite early, and there weren't many guests present yet.
Lai Yuaner flew over to her friends like a little bird, while Lai Wenyan and his wife were busy socializing. Whether it was intentional or not, Tang Li, standing to the side, seemed entirely out of place here.
Afterward, Tang Li went to the restroom.
Coming out of the restroom, she did not immediately return to the banquet hall. Unaccustomed to wearing high heels, she simply sat down in the relaxation area and freed her feet from the shoes.
With no one around, Tang Li placed her fair feet on the carpet.
She took out her cellphone to check the time.
The state banquet started at 7 p.m., still forty minutes away.
