The elevator doors opened.
Jasmine Yale slowly lifted her head, arriving at the ground floor, the first level.
She ran out of the elevator, through the hotel lobby, and straight into the deep, cold winter night of Landon.
As soon as she left the hotel, it was like stepping from fire into ice.
A cold wind blew onto her and she shivered uncontrollably, hugging her arms tight, her footsteps erratic.
She didn't know where to go and hid under the trees by the roadside, silently observing this city that was both familiar and foreign to her.
Cars streamed like water and horses like dragons on the road, and people bustled by—it was still lively.
Yet, she was aimless.
The cold wind of winter, chilling to the bone, blew against her neck, icy cold.
A fire seemed to blaze within her, inextinguishable, her entire being felt as if trapped in a desert, restless and unbearable.
"I feel so terrible," Jasmine Yale frowned in discomfort.
